Physical vs Chemical Sunscreen

A Physical Sunscreen contains active mineral ingredients, such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which work by sitting on top of the skin surface to deflect and scatter damaging UV rays away from the skin. A physical spf will provide protection immediately at application from UVA and UVB rays. A Chemical Sunscreen contains carbon-based compounds, such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and avobenzone, which create a chemical reaction and work by changing UV rays into heat, then releasing that heat from the skin.  A chemical spf requires about 20 minutes after application before it starts to work. Which ever you choose to protect your skin with, a Physical or Chemical Sunscreen, we recommend a SPF 30 or higher and reapply every 80 minutes. #PROTECT
